The class VII students of Basava International School conducted a special assembly on 18 April’18 on the occasion of Basava Jayanti, which is held each year in memory of Lord Basaveshwara. Lord Basveshwara was a 12th century kannada poet , philosopher and a social reformer who spread social awareness through his poetry known as vachanas and these precepts are followed till date. The programme started with the lamp lighting ceremony by the Principal Dr. Manimala Roy and teachers, which was followed by a prayer song. The vachanas of Lord Basweshwara were restated and a skit depicting his life was showcased. A beautiful dance performance by the students stole every one’s heart. Ankita Kumari, a student of class X C was felicitated with the Student of the Year award for the session 2017-18, by Times of India .
